What a pink slip is
A pink slip is the safety inspection NSW requires before rego can be renewed on a light vehicle more than five years old.
It checks that the car is safe to stay on the road. The result is lodged with Transport for NSW, so there’s no paper to carry to Service NSW.
With a mobile booking, the inspection comes to the car. You can stay at work or at home while it’s done.
What gets checked
The inspection covers the parts that keep the car safe. The main areas are:

In NSW, light vehicles (up to 4.5 tonnes) that are more than five years old need a pink slip before registration can be renewed. Newer cars usually don't. Your rego renewal notice tells you if one is required.
How early can I get it done?
A pink slip can be done up to six weeks before the registration due date. Booking early leaves time to fix anything that doesn't pass.
What happens if the car doesn't pass?
Ray will tell you what failed and why. Once the issue is fixed, the car can be re-inspected. Ask him on the day about the options for repairs and re-inspection.
Where can the inspection happen?
At your home, workplace or another safe spot within the service area. The car needs level ground, room to walk around it and somewhere legal to stop.
